Most of the scratches you see on a car in sunlight — swirl marks from washing, a scuff from a bag, a key mark that didn't go through the clear coat — sit in the top layer of paint. A fine rubbing compound polishes that layer level again and the mark disappears.

This paste is a hand-applied compound: dab a little on the sponge, work it over the scratch in small circles for a minute or two, buff off and check. If your fingernail doesn't catch in the scratch, it will usually polish out.

Why drivers love it

• Removes swirls and light scratches – clear-coat marks, scuffs, water spots
• No machine needed – works by hand with the sponge
• All paint colours – compound polishes rather than fills, so it's colour-neutral
• Also for headlights and plastics – clears light haze
• Kit option – includes applicator sponge and microfibre towel

How to use it

1. Wash and dry the area — never polish over dirt
2. Apply a pea-sized amount to the sponge
3. Rub over the scratch in small circles with firm pressure for 1–2 minutes
4. Wipe clean with a microfibre towel and check; repeat if needed, then wax
